Now that the weather has sprung to Spring, bikes are everywhere. And they are manned by all ages and all sizes. What moved me about this photo was her delicate lines and poise as she focused on traversing the street on her way to who knows where. Her clothes show the mark of the ever-functional Oslo fashion that allows them to be both nimble and warm and her colourful flats, striped top, and rough & ready, densely stitched leather jacket give her the flexibility and comfort she needs to cycle away. Finally, the ever present scarf frames another typical (or not so ;) Scandinavian profile.

Plaid on plaid, with wingtips and navy slacks with a full break; topped off with a flute-folded pocket square- a bit of sprezzatura elegance..... a classic look that will go on forever...

At first glance, this may not look like much, but there is a certain detail that shows this young lady put some thought into her theme and colours. Her perfectly fitting tweed jacket, buttoned to show contour, the bootstrap-bunched jeans, and the bold striped skirt used as a tunic-over-jeans show the conscious approach to the style that so many Oslonians manage to make look unplanned and unscripted.

Loved her simple and functional look, muted hues and of course, the all black Chuck Taylors. The busy flower print topped off with the perennial scarf and dark blue short waisted jacket all work together for one of Oslo's oft used stylish and urban looks....

Again, defined by the elements and their natural sense of style, when the rain comes, so come the Wellies and the Slickers. In fact, so enamored are these Norwegians with their Gummies and Rainboots
(predominantly HUNTER), they will bust them out even at the hint of rain. Who would have thought that rainboots could be so,.....

So much of Oslo's Style is a response to its climate. Protection from the elements and doing it with personal flair.... At any time in May or June a whipped-up-wind can push a chill down your spine, or if the sun plays peek-a-boo behind some stray clouds, you'll immediately feel the temperture drop a few degrees. Yes, often it's earth tones for solid footwear, durable outerwear and easily on-or-off neckwear (depending on the time of day or the number of clouds overhead).

                                               Practicality and Flexibility is what it's all about.....
