Hit the street hard today hunting for OsloLook. It never ceases to amaze me how much Norwegians express themselves through their choice of apparel, their mixing and matching of colors and textures and their subtle tributes to both masculinity and femininity. They can keep up with any city in the world, and in fact have their own particular style, delicate yet firm, like a Mother's hand. I believe this comes from the climate, at once oppressive and beautiful. It forces its inhabitants to be practical, and yet, fashion conscious Oslonians will never abandon their need for delicate textures and determined patterns.
In my years as a fashion photog, I always felt that clothing was the springboard to a successful photograph. It set the mood, and the call to action (or non- action), for both the model and me. In a very real sense, it gave inspiration to both of us.
After hitting the steets today, my first day of fully embracing OsloLook and its potential, I saw Oslo anew,.. and was awed, and yes, inspired once again. I hope you will be too.
